2013-03-08:  Our Minecraft Server is back up and running from our home server... We are still sorting out permissions, so let us know if there is any access that you're missing.

How to play using the Technic Launcher and the Tekkit Lite module:
  1. If you do not already have it installed, please download and install the Technic Launcher (see the links to the left of the http://www.technicpack.net/ website to download the correct version for your operating system)
  2. Startup the Technic launcher, (it may check for updates first). 
  3. Once the launch window is up select module "Tekkit Lite" from big drop down menu on the left.
  4. Enter your Minecraft.net username and password.
  5. Minecraft will then startup. like normal, the first time you log into our server you may need to re-enter our server information: minecraft.lapera.com
  6. That's it! You can send email, or jump onto our voice chat server ,if you have a C3 account (see the Voice Chat Server link below for more info).
About the Technic Launcher:
The Technic Launcher (TL) functions completely independent from your existing Minecraft installation. TL provides pre-made Technic packs for use with for single-player and multi-player. Once you have downloaded the launcher all you need to do is pick the pack you want and play. Our Minecraft server is using the Tekkit pack.

Server information:
This server is available to family, friends, friends of friends, and Minecraft fans around the Central Vermont area. Our server population is primarily made up of Montpelier area elementary and middle school kids (and parents). Do to our younger user-base it is not uncommon to find some worlds in various states of disarray, as users learn how to harness their power. But that's okay by us, Minecraft makes for a great social/learning environment where anything is possible and we encourage creativity...

By default new players my explore but are not able to build. If you are interested in building please speak to a moderator, send minecraft at lapera.com or speak/email to someone from the LaPera family.

We use various Bukkit server plug-ins and Minecraft Forge server mods to help enhance and protect the server.

Server Rules:
The only worldwide server rules are:
  • Keep all language "G" rated and negativity to a minimum.
  • Be respectful of others and their creations (accidents will happen ;-)
  • For world specific rules type (in-game): /rules
We encourage the self-regulation of our Minecraft community through "gentle" reminders when inappropriate language or behavior occurs. Users who are "excessively" inappropriate or discourteous may be kicked from the server (requiring them to only log-in again). If a user is repeatedly being kicked from the server for inappropriate behavior (after fair warning) a temporary ban may be enforced. 

The server has mechanisms in-place for protecting user creations, but they may require some basic understanding on how to use them. See the server plugins page for more info, or ask a moderator for assistance.

World rules may vary depending on the world you are in. That said, in order to create a positive experience, moderators will frequently grant new or younger users with permissions (or items) that help allow them to participate in a group. 


New Users:
To prevent server griefing new users do not have permission to build, but they may explore some of the worlds. In order to build on the server you need to identify yourself to a Moderator, in server chat, who then may ask you a few questions before granting build permissions. Users who have demonstrated that they are upstanding community members may have their permissions elevated, allowing them access to advanced server features or possibly moderator status.
